Jyotish or Astrology means the Vision of the Divine. Jyotish is among the six scriptures that elucidate Vedas. There are three branches of astrology. (1) Falit (findings) (2) Ganit (mathematics) (3) Siddhant (theory). Due to these three branches, astrology is called three dimensional. Using all the three dimensions together, knowledge of past, future, present, form, characteristics, nature, age and indications for success and failure of every kind of living and non-living beings can be obtained. astrology.
The falit jyotish (Predictive Astrology) is of six different types: (1) Jatak (2) Samhita (3) Prashna (4) Tajik (5) Muhurta (6) Ramal.
The ‘Jatak’ entails creating horoscope of an object or a creature and deriving information about events occurring from its complete life cycle from birth to death. The ‘Samhita’ is a discipline that involves study of the events taking place in the nature and the position of the planets to deduce information about the auspicious and inauspicious events that might occur on a large scale on the earth.
‘Prashna’ ‘is a technique to find answer to any kind of question. ‘Tanjik’ is a method to create annual chart to describe what is in store for an object or creature in the next one year. To know the auspicious time to carry out a task, “Muhurt” is used. “Ramal” is a technique to know the answers to all kinds of questions and auspiciousness.
Using Ramal astrology, you can know-
Fate, employment, marriage, children, success in examinations, relief from debt, loss of property, profit and loss, missing person, disease, paranormal effect, reasons of loss/ gain, job, annual prediction, cause of the crisis and its correct solution and answers to all other such questions and get benefitted.
“Ramal” is the name of a method of the ancient Indian astrology which is now almost disappearing. The word “ramal” appears to have come from the Persian language, but proving the word having origin in Sanskrit, the text “ramal rahasya” states –
‘‘रमुक्रीडार्थ धातोश्च तस्मादल विधानतः। औणादित्वादलं प्राप्य रमलेति प्रथां गतः।।’’
“Ramukridartha Dhotoshch Tasmadal Vidhanatah. Ounaditvadalan prapya ramaleti prathan gatah. “
That is, the word “ramal” is derived from the root “ramu” which means play and suffixing it with “dal”, makes the word ramal.
If the word ‘ramal’ is interpreted, then it can also be described as the third eye of Brahma. Ramal Jyotish is said to have the capability of being omniscient. That is this is a discipline capable of revealing past, present and future. A number of folklores are popular concerning the origin of ramal. One of them the anecdote is as follows:
At their abode atop the Mount Kailash, once Lord Shiva and his other half, the great power Parvati, were playing together. Suddenly, in a flash, the supreme power Parvati disappeared from the scene. Finding his other half missing, the Lord became much distraught. He searched her for thousands of years, but could not find her anywhere. In that state of distress and anguish, a part of the Lord’s own divine power manifested itself in the form of Mahabhairava. The latter appeared and then punched four points with his four fingers on the earth. The Lord could not deduce any meaning from this depiction. Sensing the difficulty of his creator, the Mahabhairava again punched four more points adjacent to the earlier ones and requested the Lord to find his pursuit within the meaning of the depiction drawn on the earth. The Lord then decoded the meaning and could conjoin himself with his other half who was hiding far away in another clandestine form. This gave birth to the ‘Knowledge of Symbols’, that is the Ramal whose first beneficiary was the Lord Shiva himself. Several texts describe Mahabhairav as another form of Lord Shiva.
Regarding the origin of the Ramal Shastra (the sacred writings on Ramal), the other prevailing stories propounding the basic principles of Ramlal Shastra are also related to Lord Shri Shiva and Parvati. According to one such anecdote, once Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were sitting together at their abode at Mount Kailash. During conversation, the Goddess implored Lord Shiva to spell out a simple method for the common people to enable them to gain some vision into their past, present and future and to provide them some foresight whenever they are in a tight spot in their lives.
Before Lord Shiva could respond to the request of Parvati, the beautiful moon adorned on his forehead oozed out four drops of elixir. In order to subsume those drops of elixir, four of the five fundamental elements of the universe, namely, fire, air, water, and the earth enveloped those droplets.
Thereafter the Lord told Parvati, “Listen to this knowledge which is out of bound for even sages. This universe is made up of five elements. 1. Fire 2. Air 3. Water 4. Earth and 5. Ether. The first four elements are material while the ether is all pervading and intangible and carries the other four within itself. The four dots represent the four elements which have participated in the construction of the universe. When these four dots replicate themselves to form eight points in 4-4 formation, it is called ashtvasu. When these eight vasu again replicate, they represent 16 phases of the moon. The patterns of dots emerging in the ramal dices provide information about past, present and future and can provide answers to all the queries. This esoteric technique is very secret and unique.”
The Lord explained the complete technique to his other half and because the technique originated while playing, it was named ‘ramal’. The Mother Parvati preserved the method on a birchbark. Later she blessed a poor Brahmin with the gift of this technique so that he is able to earn his livelihood. This way, this technique reached to the mankind.
Ramal is an ancient technique. Historical records reveal that it originated sometime around 11th to 12th century AD.
छिति जल पावक गगन समीरा। पंच तत्व रचित शरीरा।।
Chhiti jal paawak gagan samira, panch tatva rachit sharira.
The couplet of Goswami Tulsidas propounds that the universe is created from earth, water, fire, air, and ether and the dissolution of these elements is the end of the world.
The human body too is formed by these five elements where ether is the most subtle and contains the all other material elements within it.
The question astrology assumes the mind to be equivalent of the element ether. Everything including the desires takes birth in the subtle mind and leave imprints on the other four material elements. The interplay of the four material elements and the concomitant sixteen patterns generated by them in the ether element are captured using the Ramal dices in the form of various symbols. These patterns indicate the cosmic directions with respect to the patterns created in the mind and thereby reveal quite accurate answers to the seeker. Its miracles need to be seen to believe.
